A Little History About Rockford Fosgate
Rockford Fosgate was founded by Jim Fosgate, the son of a television and radio repairman. Fosgate invented the first amplifier in 1973, and founded Fosgate Electronics, which we now know as Rockford Fosgate.
However, Fosgate fell in love with experimental sound, and wanted to concentrate on creating new inventions. In 1981, he sold Fosgate electronics to Camelback Capital Corp., who renamed the company Rockford Fosgate, after the street the company had been located on for almost 10 years.
Even though Fosgate left Rockford Fosgate, he still continued to make his mark on the world of audio and entertainment. In 2003, he won an Emmy Award for the development of surround sound for television.
